Olympus digital cameral for Imac?

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Imaging Resource Discussion : One Thread

I have an Imac and recently purchased an Olympus D340R - the instructions claim it's not compatible w/ Imacs (it will work with other Macs). Is there something I can buy to make this work? An adapter of some sort? Photoreader? And where would I find that? Or is there a digital camera that will work easily with an Imac that is reasonably priced?

The only thing "not compatible" with your iMac is the serial connection for transferring pictures. You can buy a USB SmartMedia reader such as the one that MicroTech makes and use that to download images much faster than the serial connection would.

The Mac software supplied by Olympus should run fine on your iMac, although you will not be using to download pictures.

Hope this helps

i am trying to read a smartmedia card with a sandisk (SDDR75) reader. it seems the olympus format is not recognized by my ibook. and the mac format is not recognized by my camera (olympus C-830L). and i don't find any element of answer about my problem, all over the web !!!

Not an answer but another complaint. I have 9600 upgraded to G3, usb/fw pci card and usb works just fine. The problem is that when I plug the camera the mac wants to format the disk. The camera then refotmats ot cos it can't read hfs... Well, is that what they call compatibility? The devices can talk but they never agree on anything... Meanwhile, windoze xp recognised it instantly. What's sorry is that I haven't found anything on this issue but here...
