D620L vs. Coolpix 950

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Imaging Resource Discussion : One Thread

I publish an online news and information service and cover football and basketball games. I've been using a Fuji DX9 but find it woefully inadequate for this kind of shooting.

I'm looking at the Olympus D620L and the Nikon Coolpix 950 and was wondering if anyone could offer advice on those cameras' suitability for sports action photography for the web.

I don't recall if the D-620 has a shutter-priority exposure mode. (Check our review to see if it does or not.) If not, that would make it problematic. Other than that though, it's buffer memory makes it one of the fastest digicams shot-to-shot, which could be important for sports work. I'd say if the D620 has shutter-priority mode, buy it, if not, get the CP-950. (My own personal biases: I'm assigning greater importance to the shutter-priority than to rapid-fire shooting.)
