How long until this page fades away.

Assume, arguendo, that nothing particularly interesting or major happens on or after January 1.

How will it be until this site becomes inactive?

As I've argued before, things have already been happening so your argument is specious. I expect this site to go through at least June if the infrastructure survives. If the infrastructure doesn't survive, then your guess is as good as mine.

This forum is reportedly due to be shut-down this Friday. MIT is supposedly pulling the plug on their servers.

Maybe never, there are a lot of articulate and intelligent folks on here, from all walks of life (lurkers included). With the exception of idiot trolls and brain-dead pollies, we all get along well together. TB2000 has grown into something more than just a Y2k bboard. We have become a family of sorts who love each other. Even if Y2k turns out to be nothing at all, this is a great meeting place for likeminded people, and we will all miss if it closes.

MIT is NOT pulling "the plug" on Friday. At least on this server.

*Sheesh*

It will last however long there's an interest in Y2K after-effects.

Diane, thanks for the heads up. I thought I saw that the server was going to be shut down by MIT. Are you the Den mother today??

If you read Jim Lord's December newsletter, he thinks that issues will continue to build well into 2001 and not taper off. His advice about not eating your preps and not being lulled into a false sense of security is worthwhile. I hope this forum continues. I have learned a lot. There are some talented people posting here (along with a few crazies).
