Colombia rebels Y2K compliantColombia's main rebel group, the Revolutionary Armed Forces, or FARC, says its computer systems are fully prepared for the millennium.
A rebel spokesman said all the FARCs' computers had been upgraded with modern software and would be unaffected by the so-called millennium bug.
A BBC correspondent in Colombia says this is no idle boast for a guerrilla organisation that uses complex intelligence databases and sophisticated communications systems.
In contrast, the Colombian government says its social security database -- including health records and pensions -- is only seventy percent ready. Government workers are being paid next month's salary in advance to cover for any problems the system may experience.
