NIKON 950 AND DIFFUSION GEL?

i am doing close up piks with my 950 (1" range) been playing with lights blue light gives me incorrect color when i set it to incandescant, flash is too lopsided but have been playing with wrapping a cone of (label backing paper) around the lense to get a diffused flash it works pretty good but where do you get the real stuff? or is there such a thing? dave

Most professional camera stores would have this, the only trick is finding a pro store near you. You could always order it from someone like B&H in New York. I'd suggest Rosco 103 or 102. (I'm sure of the 103 number as I have some of it here, don't know about 102, but think that's the slightly lighter-weight material, with less diffusion than the 103.)

Dave, I also take macros (<1") with my 950. I heard about a trick that works great. Take a 1 gallon plastic milk jug and cut the top until the hole is about 2-3" in diameter. Then cut the bottom off so the whole thing is about 3" high. Cover your subject with the milk jug and illuminate it from two sides. It works great!
