Oil and Y2k A Final Evaluation

In June of 1999, I discovered this wonderful forum that focuses upon Y2K issues. When I first tuned-in here, the main oil talkers here were either on vacation or not posting. But I didn't know that so I felt that no one realized just how significant the oil sector would be to Y2K. I therefore posted what I knew based upon my prior 18 months of investigating and monitoring of the Y2K issues. My comments indicated that while other issues were important, the one that seemed the most daunting and problematic was that of the oil industry. Why did I think that? For one, I grew up in the oil biz. I have numerous relatives working in that field in a variety of capacities and sectors. They have provided information and insight into their experiences with Y2K preps where they work.

In addition to my family and friends working in the oil industry, (I grew up in the oil business) my own business- assignments put me out across the country this past year in many cities. No, I was not nor am not involved in any kind of Y2K business. I've not even tried to make one dime off of the Y2K issue. But at these conferences and business meetings I would bump into folks and discussions would often times turn to Y2K. I met various folks some of whom worked in the oil industry in certain regions that I was visiting. I would also meet folks at hotels, airports, on planes, taxis, restaurants etc. Some of these folks worked in the oil industry. From these varied contacts I picked up different pieces of the Y2K puzzle relating to oil. I have tried to share these with the forum for the past 6 months in order to try and determine just how Y2K might affect the oil industry.

These varying contacts have given me a rather unique perspective that runs across various segments of the industry and various companies as well as different geographical sections. The various bits and pieces of information are from first-hand sources. These folks gave me their eyewitness accounts. My relaying them to the forum does make them second-hand to you so keep that in mind. Also, keep in mind that my background is in advertising/marketing/public relations and also as former radio news reporter. My approach in gathering this information has been as if I were still working a radio news beat. I have lived up to my word and kept my sources confidential per their request. In doing so, I've had to keep my own identity a secret. Unless, one of my sources tells me its okay to identify them with their information, I will not expose them to public limelight. These people do not want to risk losing their jobs or facing public ridicule.

Ok so now we know about you, thats great, but now that you have so much to say, where the devil is it?

Sorry Folks that this took so long. We've had a death in the family and myriads of other issues plus, a late breaking source that I was desperately trying to reach and convince to come forward on the forum. Unfortunately with the holidays we must have missed. That was a very critical aspect for the delay. The source is quoted in Part 3, but I was hoping he'd come out publicly and tell us more of what he knows.

I hope you can understand. Also, some of the pollies have been ridiculing reactions as if I were somebody special. I am not. We're all part of a big research team pulling together to try and figure out what's going to happen so we can plan as best as possible.

I have presented here scaled back version. I could written 20 more pages and tons of links to re-cap the evidence...but many if not most of you already know it, so why bother? I did post part 2 as a brief recap with items you may have not seen or seen and forgotten, but they are relevant in terms of making projections as they provide numbers from prior research studies for fail rates.

I don't know if any of this will help anyone or not, but I figured I'd post it for the record anyway. It's the best projections I think we can work with, but their fallible like everything else in this world.

Not for long,

What's up with you? I don't owe anyone anything. I'm not a pope either. I wonder who's trying to set me up in some manner? Perhaps the purpose is for a "straw man" ad-hominum attack against me instead of the material I post.

Well, its just opinions based upon some numbers and statistics...It's like predicting the weather.

Get a life!
