How to safely store gasoline

Could anyone out there give me some advise on how to safely store gasoline? I have 2 10 gal gerry cans and an outdoor shed. Live in Pacific Northwest (cool damp climate).

Thanks

The simple explanation is to seal the cans tightly, keep them out of the sun, cool and as steady a temperature as practical. Don't store them in your home, any structure you care about or uphill from either. Keep them away from sources of sparks or flame. If you plan to use it within 6 months no treatment should be necessary.

Gasoline vapor is what burns. Make sure your shed gets plenty of ventilation.
