"NYMEX has another short week ahead and will have to wait a day longer than some to do their first trading in 2000. The exchange is shut Dec 31 and, to be doubly-sure to avoid Y2K problems, is also closed Monday, Jan 3. "Nothing's going on, no one wants to do anything, unless we get some sort of Y2K problems," a broker said. But those won't be known until the following week. Some cash participants could try to secure last-minute supply before Y2K to avoid any disruptions, although most of that business is said to be done. "The physical players have already gotten all of what they need by the latest by the end of this week," he said. "If anyone's worried about it they've already taken care of it, that might lead to a little selloff after the New Year," another broker said."
