It is never Too late... Get something done that will aid you and your family...Do not panic, find out where the local Red Cross center is and make plans to relocate their if things get bad. Good Luck and God Bless...

Go back to sleep; it's no big deal.

Yup, you'll want to go back to sleep for a hundred years or so. Try pricking your finger on an enchanted needle - but don't forget to book your wake up call from a handsome Prince. :)

Which reminds me - all those "preppers" who've had their heads/bodies frozen. Nice try Walt, but you'd better hope your cryogenic facility has a lot of juice for its generator. Ooops!

Once again, just for starters:

Rice at Sam's: 50-lb bags @ $10-$11.

Rolls of 4 or 6 mil plastic at Home Depot for rain catchment.

Try to remain cool and collected, Rip.

Rip,

Are you in a financial position to be able to procure some modest provisions? I appreciated the title of your thread. It does make me wonder if you might be feeling somewhat overwhelmed, which, as so many people here know, can lead to immobilization. The good news is, modest preps generally help people feel less vulnerable.

I hope you are able to take some time and focus on obtaining the important essentials. I'm guessing you are new to TB2000? Out of curiousity, I'm interested in what caused you to take serious notice of potential problems with y2k? Anything specific?

Whatever you do Rip,

DON'T hit the snooze button...

Yes, it's too late, but not too late to pack your BIG WHITE BUS bags, and don't forget the lice and crab sprays, you'll be needing them.

Plenty of time left to get a month's worth of preps.

Food = Rice. No grinding. Easy to cook. Staple of billions. Add canned stuff (meat, soup, whatever) Done.

Water. Buy a purifier a water barrel and chlorox. Get lots of tang and deydrated milk. Add whatever. Done.

Shelter. You've already got one. Done.

Heat. (If needed) Tough to say, but I could install a woodburning stove in my garage in one afternoon. I still see used ones at local antique store (cheaper and maybe better than new). Do what you need to for survival. Done.

Think: food, water, fire, shelter. That's all you have time for but, IF YOU KEEP YOUR WITS ABOUT YOU, there is still time.

P.S. Get off this board NOW!

P.P.S. If you live in an apartment in a northern clime.....ah, you're in trouble.

"Me said"

P.P.S. If you live in an apartment in a northern clime.....ah, you're in trouble.

Not necessarily. A quality sleeping bag, quilts, blankets, "space" blankets, etc. will keep you from freezing if the heat's out.

This morning I talked with my cousin, an intellectual GI -- gets it in his head but not in his actions. He's in his car on a cell phone and tells me it's too late anyway. It tell him that within the next half- hour he will certainly go by a grocery store.

Step 1: Stop.

Step 2: Go in.

Step 3: Buy 50 lbs of rice, a couple of cases of canned food, tp, and some bottled water.

Step 4: Go home.

Sheesh. This is not rocket science. (It's not like there's some English-to-metric unit conversion or something.)
