Bad things about Canon A50 ($317)

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Imaging Resource Discussion : One Thread

I can't seem to find any *BAD* info about the camera I'm about to purchase. If you could change anything... what would it be? List 5 *BAD* things about the camera. (I've already heard dozens of great things.)

>>>> Canon A50 ($317).... and the rechargeable battery/charger/adapter ($71).

I don't expect a 1-megpix camera to perform like a 2-3-megpix camera. And since I'll also be buying the rechargeable battery... that should take care of most battery problems.

Any help will be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,

-Bill

This camera is an excellent choice in the price range, I've recommended it a lot. So I don't think these things are especially bad, but...

No shutter/aperture manual control, no external flash, not very long focal length on zoom (70mm equiv), 1.3 megapixel isn't the best for printing larger images.

Besides the small size, a nice bonus for this camera is that the lens goes a little wider than most (28mm equiv).

An outstanding camera at a great price. I've had mine now for about 4 weeks & the more I use it, the more I'm continually amazed at it's performance. Yesterday, my grandson & I visited the Star Wars exhibit at the San Diego Art Museum where I shot models behind plexiglas enclosures using existing light only & without a tripod. I marveled at the results. Don't pass-up this gem of a camera.
