HP Printers-Other papers

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Imaging Resource Discussion : One Thread

I just bought a HP882C printer with some HP Photo Paper. Checking at Best Buy, they have all sorts of no-name (at least, not that I've heard of) photo paper. Will they work as well?

Also, will the Epson Paper work OK on an HP printer. I know Epson uses a whole different process, dye vs. ink so I wonder if the papers are compatible. Ed

Do you really think HP is in the paper business?

I use Kodak paper most of the time, and have bought paper from Imation and others. Just make sure it is nice glossy photo paper in one of the two major sizes (4x6 and 8.5x11) and you're all set. One of the best I've found for printing is the Kodak Inkjet Photo Paper. It's a very nice paper. Use the HP Deluxe Photo Paper setting with it.

I personally do not care for the HP Photo paper.. It is not as bright as the one I have been using, and it tends to curl after it has been printed. I recently purchased a Lexmark PHOTO Jetprinter zsnd am using Lexmark paper.. It has a high brightness rating which makes the colors stand out better, and it does NOT curl. Lies flat as a pancake..

However, it may not work as well in your printer..It's one of those things where you just have to try different papers to find one you like - Surely a hit or miss prospect and can get a little expensive.
