recommend printer for digital photography

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Imaging Resource Discussion : One Thread

i'm currently using an HP 600C which of course doesn't at all do justice for the images I'm capturing with my Mavica. As a novice, with a relatively tight budget, I am told that a color laser printer will produce results that are breathtaking by comparison, even to what can be rendered from a monitor.

I'm looking for comments and suggestions that could lead me to an informed purchase of a suitable printer.

Thanks very much, Jeff

I would check out the Epson 700 and 750 printers. They are 6 color and are true photo printers. The 700 runs about $100 and the 750 about $200. Check this site out: http://www.tssphoto.com/sp/dg/news/dot_comp.html

Currently I have an HP Deskjet 720C and it does a very good job of photo printing. We used it to make Christmas Cards this year from photos we took with a Kodak 240 Zoom. Everyone we sent them to thought we had them made at a photo shop. If you really want a quality top of the line printer check out the HP 1100, 1200 X 2400 dpi in color two sided printing, 2 paper trays, and can handle 2 type sof memory cards plugged into it without turning on the PC (it can also be connected to the pc).

I've done quite a bit of research in this area and I came to the conclusion that the Epson photo 750 ,and photo 1200 offer the best results over the rest.
