There's been a few of them lately, entering my life at irregular times, always completely unexpected and "out of nowhere". I'm loving it so far, but I'm afraid to love it too much because it might just stop all of a sudden. Dead air. Empty space.

My friend Chris, a guy I met through Austin actually, has been warming my nights for a few weeks now. He's a natural flirt but seems so genuine in his intentions. He always talks about taking me out dancing, and coming to visit me when I move to Calgary. I've always found him so incredibly sweet.

Drew has also been quite the enjoyable guy to have around too. I love it when I meet people and there's this automatic *click* with our personalities. I don't know him that well but because we just *clicked* our time spent talking is one of the most silly, flirtatious, and fun time I could ever have in one night.

But, of course, those two people mentioned above live a hundred thousand miles away. I hate the internet sometimes. ;\

There's also this guy in my computer technology class who makes going to school worth the energy. His name is Dave and he's a year younger than I am. Plays senior volleyball and is the only guy I've met (offline first) who's a nerd but isn't actually a nerd. He's a Gemini, and that's the only way I can explain why we get along as well as we do.

Shae, the next time you see me, ask to see a picture of him. I have one around here somewhere.

First of all, in response to the Chris thing...there's a song by Vertical Horizon, and the chorus totally reminds me of the situation:

"He is everything you want, he is everything you need, he is everything inside of you that you wish you could be. He says all the right things at exactly the right times, but he means nothing to you and you don't know why."

Okay, so maybe not totally (I think the wanting and meaning nothing parts are a bit switched) but it is still an awesome tune.

Anywho, this guy DJ lights up a room. He's been away in the army for...say...five months. He finally came home yesterday, the night of my vocal concert. I turned around and there he was, all bedecked in uniform. I could help but to run and throw my arms aroung this glowing beauty.

Sigh. How I missed him. I know it's a dream to ever believe that something will ever happen, but dreams are nice things to carry close to the heart. Sometimes in the end, they hurt, but this dream...my DJ...he just means so much.

I have blabbered to people who don't know me/think I am inside. I shall stop.

Rachel, one of my good friends, can light up a room. (Strange, that I call her a "good friend," for lack of any better description."Friends with benefits" sounds so junior high.) At any rate, she's amazing, and it's almost funny how she seems not to realize it. She'll tell me that she wants to have charisma, and I'll just smile, because she's one of the most charismatic people I know...

well, my friend shanahmonique is pretty good at that...

otherwise, though, i'm not sure. perhaps lovely mr. max b., who wears bright colors and has a brighter personality and calls himself "the diva"-- not just "diva," but "THE diva." classic.

-- maggie (maggie@cakedemons.com), December 22, 1999.

maggie gram is pretty good at lighting up a room. whenever i think of her or see her, i can't help but smile and love her. :)

alexis and christina are amazing. they can make me laugh even when i'm VERY upset [this afternoon being an example].

I'm surrounded by people who light up rooms. I live in the middle of constant blaze. Psychologically I can't ever be cold.

I started to list people and realized there were too many, and too many ways. People like Maggie and Adri and Spirit, who light up the room with soft consolation, like candelabra on a table. Like Hilary and Flynn and Lou, who are even and bright and fair but sometimes too bright, like the first light I see in the morning when I open my eyes. Ani is a tiny lantern I always have in my hand as I search for truth. Heather is a violet electric arc -- snap! flash! -- and I bet Raedyn is that too.

but you, shae, you are fire in a fireplace, light and warmth and fluctuating beauty all in one, and whenever I get the chance I will sit next to you for hours, just to see and feel the perennial, demanding passion of yourself.

as much of a punk as he is, jason lights up my room. he's wonderful and grand and special and a pain and worth it completely.

however, i'm thisclose to the end of my rope, so if any more shit goes down, jason will be the good friend who lights up the room. nothing more.

My monitor lights up my room ... mmhmm, think about that one, m'dears. ;)

-- Adrienne (dissolve@deconstructive.net), December 22, 1999.

r. lights up my room. when he didn't call for a week and then the phone rang last night, I thought it would be him, and it wasn't. only my friend becky. after i hung up with her, it rang again and i heard the lovely deep voice say, "is sara there?" he's wonderful and makes me smile so much. after i'm off the phone (which was a two hour conversation, I can never stop talking and listening) I'm all smiles and can never sleep. i don't care if he's too old. i don't care if I'm too young. he makes me happy.

-- sara (sara@sparkles.net), December 22, 1999.

my brother, i'd say. he wanders into the room, and makes some little comment way too intelligent to be coming out of a 13 year old's mouth and i just laugh and laugh, wherever i am. he has this ability to make me giggle like a four year old.

and as stupid as it sounds, when i get that online alert that shae or maggie or kip or skye or sara or sarah or adri or suzen or austin or heather or anniesarah or OR OR OR are online, my whole face turns into a grin.

and roll on may. when i get to really see.

ilu shae.

my best friend lights up a room. because when you only get to see someone once every year - or sometimes less than that - it's hard not to see the light when they walk into the same space as you for the first time in 12 months.

Brendan Mowat-Smith. He just smiles. Everything I need, even if I can't have him. His smile is so bright, like floodlights.

-- jess (smackaddict@sexmagnet.com), December 23, 1999.

The 9th grader named Brandon that lives up the street from me. No matter what he does he can always bring a smile to my face the moment I see him. He has an electric smile that lights me on fire.

Pete, who I have endless conversations with on icq. I sometimes wait around just to see if he gets on. If he does, it's like someone just turned on the headlights.

Greg, who is very near and dear to my heart. When he calls and his voice registers in my head I snap to attention and about scream in delight.

Also, suzen, YOU miss shaeshae, austin, chris, jaime, rachie, adam and magic have a way of turning on the overhead light when the greet me.

Claire. She's one of my best friends. She is constantly glowing. I could be in the worst mood, and one glimpse of her smiling or being silly, and I suddenly feel better.
