W.Des Moines loses power due to "We Don't Know'.

greenspun.com : LUSENET : TimeBomb 2000 (Y2000) : One Thread

10 O' the clock news...about 3000 homes in West Des Moines loses power...by 11 they had it to 1000 and was supposed to be fixed by midnite...however...midnite came and went and power was still down. The guy from the power co. says they don't know what caused it...later they said they 'suspect' it's a faulty cable. Hmmmmm.....

And gee...the weather here is well below zero with a wind chill in the negative 30's F.

My sister told me they lost power in Western Ohio area for 2 1/2 hours yesterday (Dec. 20th). No clue as to cause given. Anyone else have outages to report?????

Hampton Roads Peninsula this year has had frequent outages during business hours in residential communities. I guess VA Power might be upgrading local components? I work 15 min from home, and have continuous power at work, only to come home and have to reset all house clocks.

A LOT of interruptions in phone services, business and residential.

How much you wanna bet it's the clock drift bell curve kicking in?

BTW, our pathetic GTE phone service was been kicking in and out all day yesterday. GTE of course does the ol' rump scratch accompanied by the What, me worry? confidence builder.

I've been having trouble w/the phone lines recently - no dial tone, modem won't pick up a dial tone, have to physically punch in some random numbers before the line will kick in (US West).

Lost power in centex for three hours last night....... we turned into a Y2K exercise. Pretty fun, although it was cold.

Sounds like a Y2K problem.

THAT my friends, is a chipmunk! The iniquitous squirrels flaunt their disdain for other mammals, with their long fluffy tails, as if it were REGAL plummage. There is NO LONG FLUFFY TAIL, on the being pictured!

A disinformation campaign is afoot!

The evil imperialist squirrels are trying to make you humans think that we freedom loving chipmunks are the enemy.

Death to the facist squirrels! Long live the Chipmunk revolution!

no outages but lots of major surges!

Local server down due to "fiber optic cut" in So. Missouri -- no long distance phone, internet hookups for about 6 hours yesterday afternoon. So, who's doing enough deep construction in 15 degree weather to produce "fiber optic cuts"?

Anita, you are just not a "trusting" soul.......

Maybe digging more bunkers, or dugouts for the troops at intersections with roadblocks....
