MediaOne (ATT) down since 11 am CST in Western Suburbs of Chicagoland.

Customer Service said outage is widespread (over several towns) but did not know the reason.

Not necessarily Y2K related. MediaOne has been upgrading to what they call "Broadband" service in this area for some weeks (northern exurbs of Atlanta). We've had some extended interruptions in cable service -- the most recent one for eight (8!) days running. I've seen the repair crews working near where I live --- running conduit underground, fishing cable through, fussing with junction boxes --

The TV cable is fine but the Broadband ISP has been down all day.

We've had broadband internet access for almost 2 years. This is the 1st time an outage occured for this long. Might not be y2k related but definitely reminds me how my business depends on technology working flawlessly.

We were down too from about Noon to 4 p.m. PST - rebooting they said. Also when I would call the ISP office line for information would get a strange recording saying a phone number (which wasn't the number I called) and then saying 'is not available, please leave a message'. Weird.
