the stock markets will head south beginning today. This is a sure bet. Can't give you an analysis explaing why. Just my intuition. TIOLI!

Well, Lenny, you're not alone with your prediction: my brother-in-law phoned me last night to say the same thing, but he wouldn't say why, either.

I've been leaving CNN on and will make it a point to look at the numbers about 11 or so.

Two years ago, I would've pooh-poohed you guys, but these days, I think that anything can happen with this market.

Pre-open markets and indicators show nothing that makes one concerned.

I am convinced if JQP wants to dump stocks before the rollover he/she probably thinks they can wait right up until the rollover and dump and pull in all profits.

However I dont think they are going to do this, they dont think Y2k is a problem so why should they bail out.

I dunno, Lenny; I hope your intuition is better than mine, which is usually wrong regarding the stock market. A combination of techicals and fundamentals works better for me.

Help please. What does TIOLI mean?

Thanks

DOW down 100

If it ends - 200 then I might pay attention. If it does it two or three days in a row then I might be concerned. But - 100 is nothing.

hamster -

Liquidity may be more and more of a problem between now and year end. Some major players in certain markets (e.g., foreign exchanges) are closing up shop (some by order of their local Powers That Be), which takes money off the table until after Rollover. Combine that with this game of "chicken" that everyone's playing with the timing of their selling and you have the makings of one heck of a downdraft. Most everyone wants to wait until the new year before selling (cap gains), but not at the risk of losing serious $$$ due to others bailing out earlier.

Lenny;

I've been thinking the same thing for the last three years & haven't been right yet! I'm confident that, like a stopped clock, I'll be right eventually.
