It's All A Guess....Calm Down, Folks

greenspun.com : LUSENET : TimeBomb 2000 (Y2000) : One Thread

No need to start a thread here. You can reply personally (yes, it's my real address) rather than clutter the forum if you feel a need to respond.

It is so close, it is time to clasp hands together and wait. There is no need for the often hysterical ad hominem attacks on each other. Be philosophical. Be calm when times are strange.

Chillout.

Well said. Thank you!

It's obvious how people respons in a crisis situation, real or perceived. Some will maintain a calm air, prepared to react instantly if need be but still in a controlled manner. Others will get pensive, others downright freaked out, and others will flip immediately to brain-freeze and lock up like Windows 95 on a bad command day.

I hope everyone has a calm demeanor when it counts...

O d d O n e, who has always been a calm person under pressure...

Forrest (if that's your real name),

What a jerk! Where do you get off telling me what to do? You arrogant, self-serving, pompous basstard! Why, I ought to....

Oh sorry, I just went back and finished reading the part about "be calm" etc. Gosh, do I feel silly....

Ever try to calm a stampede? You don't succeed by standing in their way and calmly proclaiming calm. Do that and you get trampled to death.

You have to run with the herd...gain the lead...then slowly bring the herd to a stop.

The same will be required by GI's in dealing with panicky DGI's once reports of power and phone outages begin pouring into the US on 12/31/99, PRIOR to the rollover here in the US.

GI's will have to be highly visible. Strong. Confident. Reassuring. To be anything less is to get trampled to death by the panicking DGI herd.

I concur. I took the time out to do my serious panicking about 6 months ago, now I'm just filling out my preps with a few last items and waiting to see which way the wind blows.

And I also agree with the subsequent post: the world WILL definitely need a few cooler heads once TSHTF.

Pompous oaf! If it's all a guess then how can **you** conclude anything?

Let's use your logic for the coast of Florida right before Hurricane Andrew, shall we?

Freaking moron.

This whole idea about guessing about this situation is devoid of all logic unless you think that magic makes this forum possible. Let's join hands and sing We Are The World and get all cuddly as the iceberg approaches. It'll be fun. I personally like my life now. It's MY suppliers that I'm worried about. There's a possibility of TEOTWAWKI here folks for real.

If you want to see some "panicking pollies", go to Steve Heller's "put up or shut up" thread. These morons are so desperate, they are claiming that Steve's predictions for the year 2000 are ALREADY wrong, even though all of his predictions are still for FUTURE dates.

Go figure.

So sorry GoldReal, but the last thing Kook wants to be is visible!
