Secret Papers Reveal Little Known WWII Italian Hearings

greenspun.com : LUSENET : TimeBomb 2000 (Y2000) : One Thread

The release last month of transcripts from secret
state hearings into "un-American activities" disclose
the fear and suspicion that led to a little known
part of American history: the World War II relocation
of thousands of people because they were of Italian
heritage.

They can do this and keep it secret for this many
years! What does this portend to the upcoming crisis?
How many will be taken away and no record will be
found for decades?

Bottom line...they did it once, they can do it again. In WW2, it was foreign folks. This time, it could be Christians, Jews, Militia types, those who have loudly and publicly advocated preps, etc...You can almost fill in the blank with the victim(s) of your choice.

When I was a little boy growing up in NYC during the war years, I remember the police and other men in suits and hats searching our apartment along with others in the building because they thought we were Italian. They were looking for radios. Boy they must have been dissapointed to learn that we were Mexican. I am glad these papers have surfaced because I have told this story many times and people don't believe me.

Bill,

Was anyone you know actually relocated?

What did they say before during and after they searched the place?

That must have been scary.
