Minolta Dual Scan Dark Slides

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Imaging Resource Discussion : One Thread

I recently purchased a Dual Scan & developed the same problem mentioned in a couple of forum questions: the inital scan of a slide is too dark, as if the black point on the histogram was incorrectly set. It seems as if the scanner, during its inital set up, is setting the exposure incorrectly. The odd thing is that the scanner was performing beautifully for 3 days, but when I started work on the 4th, the scans were very dark. I went through the obvious, (uninstall/reinstall, different SCSI adapter, deleting all TWAIN references) and Minolta tech support wasn't helpful at all (no Windows driver available--unbelievable!--and not tested with W98SE; only suggestion: defective scanner). I was very pleased with it (combined with an Epson PhotoEX, the results were stunning) and would love to get it back in action. I'd appreciate any insights. Thank you. Ken Jaskot
