Snooze, I read your response to the 'Paul Milne on paper money' that I posted. You mentioned your grandfather in central Texas. I made me almost wonder if we are slightly related because I had an uncle, great uncle or some similar who was a country doctor in the 30's in northeast Texas, would have been somewhere towards Paris, TX. He also took hens, pigs, small plots of land, etc. as payment for services. He did house calls, including at night. His wife did most of the driving for him. I was young when we attended his funeral and don't remember anything but the country doctor part of his life.
