Around the World Jan. 1

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Electric Utilities and Y2K : One Thread

Some time ago I offered to e-mail to anyone who wanted it, my schedule of countries rolling over to Jan. 1, based on US time zones (and London since my son lives there.) I am offering this again. It is no problem for me to e-mail this schedule to you. Just send me an e-mail. I sent out maybe 12 or so the last time. The first country rolls over at 5:00 a.m., Dec. 31, US Central time. I will be drinking coffee about that time, with my eyes glued to CNN.

Rick, have you finalized your plans for roll-over reporting on this forum or elsewhere on this site? We need to know. I have the capability in my brain to drink coffee, watch CNN and watch this site.

Hi Marcella,

I've really enjoyed your posts. Thanks for the offer of the info, I'd like to take you up on it.

Rick, I would also really appreciate learning through this forum of "happenings" throughout the world on rollover.

Hi folks,

I'm this close --> <-- to making an announcement on how we're going to be dealing with this. There's some last minute finalizing of details that's ongoing as I type this. I'm hoping to be able to provide some information later today (Friday) or most certainly no later than this coming Monday.

Also, we'll have some contingency plans in place in case this forum isn't working, which I'll discuss in the announcement.

Lots of stuff in the hopper; stay tuned.

The e-mails are coming in and the schedules are going out. Thanks for your comments about my posts these past two years. I sincerely hope something I said has resulted in your preparing for your family.

I am going to send Factfinder a schedule, think he needs it as well as a cigarette lighter to find his way around. I'll send a schedule to Rick, too. He doesn't need a cigarette lighter.

Let me make a plug here for something that would calm you in these days before the roll-over. I just purchased a tape by Charlotte Church, the young, (thirteen I think,) girl with the beautiful, clear voice. Absolutely beautiful. Put this tape on and go about your business at home. So beautiful. I thought about not having music if there is no electricity so went to Radio Shack and bought a $30 radio/tape player (no one seems to make just a tape player any more.) Runs on 4 C batteries. Am playing it continually to see how long the batteries will last. Charlotte Church, at Walmart in Classical Section (or any record place.)

Isn't she incredible?! I'd love to hear her sing "Amazing Grace". When I was thirteen years old, my dream was to sing like that. What a gift!

She is the best!

Convert the tape to MP3 and it will play on a portable for days.

Marcella, Thanks!

Marcella,

Banjo music is good to have to. It is the one instrument I know of that simply cannot play a sad tune. Learned that from Steve Martin years ago.

Requests for the world schedule are still going out. Get yours today. The price is right - nothing. Amaze your friends, neighbors, and in-laws. Be the first on your block to have one.

World schedules still going out. Lots of "Lurkers" checking in. Lurkers are good people. Most tell me they have their act together. One regular said the schedule was "way cool." Get your schedule now while they're hot/cool/whatever. This sale of zero down and zero per month won't last long, I'd say about Dec. 30. No schedules Dec. 31, will be busy checking out the world.

Marcella, I'd like a "world schedule" please. Thanks for the offer!
