US Soldier Killed By Land Mine In Kosovo 8:30 am PST, 16 December 1999

A U.S. soldier was killed when the vehicle he was traveling in struck a land mine in eastern Kosovo, NATO said today.

The accident occurred late Wednesday, when the soldier's vehicle hit a land mine near Kosovska Kamenica, 20 miles east of Pristina in the American-controlled sector of the province, the Associated Press reported.

No further information was immediately available.

US troops presently make up part of a NATO-controlled peacekeeping force that was inserted into Kosovo following the withdrawal of Yugoslavian Serb forces earlier this year.

While there have been a number of tense stand-offs and a few minor conflicts between Serbs, ethnic Albanians and the peace-keepers, casualties have been light.

Watch me weep buckets over one man who no one on this forum knew, while not giving a damn about the other many thousands who died in the world yesterday.

Servant,
What a response. You bring such a richness to this forum with your incredible compassion and caring eloquence. If it was
your son who had just lost his life, perhaps you would refrain from such vituperation.

Did I just blink and miss something? This is a post about the death of one man who no one in this forum knew. Boo hoo hoo.

The Russians lost a hundred men on Wednesday trying to pacify Chechyna, and regardless of the rights or wrongs of why they were there, I have no doubt that one of them was at least as good as person as this US serviceman.

Shed a tear for that Russian soldier. Shed a tear for all of them, and for every single person that died this week. Then you can come and berate me for not giving a damn about the aforementioned USA grunt, you arrogant ethnocentrist.

Servant, you disgust me. how can you feel sorry for only 100 SOLDIERS when there are hundreds of children dieing daily from lack of food. You are a disgusting pig. you make me sick. you must be a child hater. you probably like it when children die. who knows, you probably kill children on weekends for fun. boy, are you a sicko.

6,000,000,000 and growing rapidly. Anybody and I MEAN ANYBODY that has more than two children and embraces humanitarianism and feels the need to the lament every death in the world is an astounding hypocrite. That single soldier has no doubt been doubly replaced the instant he died.

Y2K is insignificant compared to the slow death that humanity is inflicting on the global environment.

Servant,

You are wrong. My husband was serving with this soldier when he was killed! You are a total ASSHOLE!! Why dont you move somewhere where the soldiers dont protect your slimy freedom of speech with their lives? That would benefit America greatly! Nothing lost with you gone.
