With Gratitude

This has been quite an experience. In spite of the sometimes "spirited" debate here, I have enjoyed the discussion and benefitted in many ways.

Thanks to those who challenged the technical aspects of the test/remediation discussion from both the utility and skeptic perspectives especially Menno, Factfinder, AJ, Dan, Robert and the others that I regret do not come to mind. The skeptics posts, especially re: embedded testing caused me to continually rethink, and review from different perspectives. Although you caused me to question my paradigms (10 Dilbert points for buzzword bingo), I have seen NOTHING that would reduce my confidence in the test methods, results or conclusions. Lights on.

Thanks to those who challenged my attitude and personal approach to others. You helped remind me that Y2K was my Opus Dei and that above all else Charity must not be abandoned when disagreeing. Bonnie, marianne, Gordon (right rudder buddy!) and Lane (dominus vobiscum) come to mind, and perhaps belated apologies are due for past offenses. Oh yea, and Ricks "reaming" in response to my initial post seemd to have a some affect as well.

Thanks to all. My prayers are with you. Rest assured in the safety of your preparations and do not be unduly troubled with fear and anxiety. I am confidant in the utility industry, as indicated by my meager preps, including the 5 gals of unused kerosene and a once used heater from last years ice storm. (oh yea, and some BC powders to keep me awake on the NYEve 12hr shift). Have a very FRUITFUL Advent, Merry Christmas, and HopeFULL New Year.

Thanks CL, I must admit that I have a lot more confidence in the basic electric utilities infrastructure than I had eighteen months ago. That said, I know there are going to be glitches in embedded systems in all the other major industries. Let's hope there aren't enough of them to cause uncontrolled cascading problems.

Happy Holidays and have a safe and happy New Year.

P.S. As Bonnie might say, for all his brashness Squirrel Nutkin only lost his tail, not his life.

Thanks cl, Merry Christmas!

And AJ...good to see your optimism...so here's my pessimism....we probably will have some kind of minor y2k bugs to deal with in the electric industry.

Regards,
