Needs a Camera for capturing Radiosity Maps

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Imaging Resource Discussion : One Thread

I would like to buy a digital camera for our research work on image-based rendering. I would like to be able to capture a series of hi-res images (upto 10) with fixed aperture, gain and ND filtering, but varying shutter speed (from say 1/500 to 5 secs). From this sequence of images I can derive the response curve for the camera's CCD and construct a radiosity map.

My question is which digital cameras will give me complete manual control of shutter speed, gain, aperture and ND filter ? I don't have a fortune to spend, so a professional camera (e.g. Kodak DCS520) is out.

I would also like to be able to stitch images into a panorama, although I can purchase quickstitch360 or coreldraw9 to do this separately.

Any advice would be very gratefully recieved,

Thanks John

John, The Casio Qv-2000UX allows full manual control. See Steve's Digicam review for the "undocumented" way to access full manual mode.
