PR: EEI sponsoring press conference tomorrow

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Electric Utilities and Y2K : One Thread

I just now received the following via the EEI mail list...all of the PR stops are going to be pulled out in the next few weeks. This should be an interesting news conference, and hopefully, I'll be able to catch it (anyone care to remind me in the morning at, say, 10AM via email? :-)

Subject: Year 2000 Readiness of Electricity and Natural Gas Industries
Tomorrow (Thursday) at 10:30 AM EST
Date: Wed, Dec 15, 1999, 9:31 PM

This press event will be held at a Pepco electric facility. The theme is to underline Secretary Richardson (DOE)/Chairman Hoecker's (FERC) confidence that America's consumers will have electricity/gas service through the rollover.

In attendance with Sec. Richardson and Chairman Hoecker will be:

John Derrick, CEO of Pepco Mike Gent of NERC Tom Kuhn of EEI Dave Parker of AGA Glen English of NRECA Alan Richardson of APPA

There will be others in attendance that I have not listed. C-Span is scheduled to cover the event along with others.

I'll try to provide some analysis / commentary (gee, won't you be waiting with bated breath!) soon after the news conference.

Argh - missed it - I got tied up with other business. Hopefully, they'll rebroadcast later and I can tape it. I'll check C-span's schedule in a bit. BTW, if anyone saw it, your impressions would be appreciated. I don't know if the coverage was live or if it will be presented later. Also, a little birdie told me it was on C-SPAN 2, which would exclude my watching it anyway (my cable service only carries the regular C-SPAN channel).

Have you ever been bowling? Ten pins line up;one heavy ball takes them all down; if you are GOOD.

Then you have seen the SHOW. Each pin declared it was 100% ready.

Keep your eye on the ball!
