Idiots

greenspun.com : LUSENET : TimeBomb 2000 (Y2000) : One Thread

Right at this moment there are someidiots in Bok's chat room who are just causing disruption. I don't know if they are Pollies or Doomers as they will not identify themselves, but I do know that are serving no useful purpose. I personally don't care what anyone's individual beliefs are, but I do think that everyone has the right to say what they think without this type of mindless behaviour. So if those responsible do come to this forum, and do happen to read this message, I would ask that you at least act responsibly, and state who you are and the reason for your disruptive tactics.

My thoughts exactly Malcolm, anybody who want's to contact me, use the my e-mail address, it's real, why would anybody with a valid opinion want to hide?

Malcolm, it is awful. It's called repeated non-stop spam-scrolling, and it is a form of "denial of service."

On here we can plead with the Slyslops to Delete On Site, but in that particular chat room, nothing can be done.

There are other chat rooms, but Mac users can't get into them -- incompatible.

We have found IRC to be fantastic! We can use the channel #Lumen_Foods on a DalNet server any time. That is where the famous csy2k Tuesday night chats are held, and several Yourdynamites have been joining in :-)

That is excellent real-time chat with lots of features, including kicking out disrupters.

For PC users this page will help you download mIRC and access this superior chat!

Malcolm, it's Lady that is doing it. Apparently she sets up a few windows then sets to disrupt. I enjoy visting with everyone and feel the same as you. E-mail Bok and ask him about his other "safe haven" chatroom that he has set up. I've been on TB2000 almost shy of 2 years now and we are for sure dealing with a very sick person here. I have no idea on how to stop it other than to drop out and find something else to occupy my time. I think I'll go out and practice with my cross-bow.

You think the pollies are disruptive now in a chatroom, wait til you see how they behave in the real world next year when they discover they should have prepared.

a: I AM a polly, but I see no need for that type of behaviour. And if I'm wrong about Y2K, I'll be the first to admit it.

I agree with you a--you are sooooo right about that!

-- bardou (bardou@baloney.com), December 15, 1999.

It will be amazing, won't it? Not looking forward to it.

-- Michael (michaelteever@buffalo.com), December 15, 1999.

Malcolm, you are polite, interesting, and contribute points worth considering in a respectful manner.

Regardless of their beliefs re Y2K, these other hooligans are mentally ill with nothing to add, just useless drivel, insane ravings, petty pet peeves, stalking, disrupting, diverting, enraging, time-wasting crappola. Trolls.

You, dear Malcolm, are not a troll! But now that you have been slimed by one, you can perhaps see why there is a stiff reaction against some pollies. Folks here are sorta sensitized 'n allergic to the Ridicule Spin ...

Malcolm, I have been in and out of Bok's room for the past 4 hours. Lady has thrown *at least* three tantrums during that time, and without any provocation whatsoever that I could see.

-- Brooks (brooksbie@hotmail.com), December 15, 1999.

Yes, folks have a right to be heard. Unfortunately, Y2K has polarized folks to such a degree that rational debate is frequently not possible. Having been down this very same road with my own Y2K chat, I definitely understand your position on this issue.

Regardless of your self proclaimed polly status, your intelligence and dignified approach are certainly refreshing and most welcome. Thanks Malcolm!

Thank you Bok for your safe haven. Amen.

-- kritter (kritter@adelphia.net), December 15, 1999.

Bok, where are you?

Can you or anyone else e-mail me the URL to a Laura-free chatroom? The e-mail addy is real. Thanks.

She's still in there creating mayhem, now impersonating Ken Decker. Sheesh.

-- disgusted (trolls@stink.phew), December 15, 1999.

Malcolm, You are so nice I didn't even know you are a polly!

Johnny would appreciate the Laura-free URL as well. My address is real.

Thanks and regards

Malcolm

Its great chatting with you and the rest of the folks in there. Bok gave us a great gift. I hope that it can continue in some form.

Thanks for your imput.

Um,

Are there other options? Ashton & Leska mention one.

I tried Bok's chat room once, but the plug-in messed up my older 68K Mac. I had to reformat the hard-drive.

Yes, it sounds like LL has a habit of spamming. Noticed there seems to be a chat function at Yahoo, and possibly one at Netscape.

Then there's "another" option but the chat area needs some work.
