55,000 Reasons I Want It To Be A BITR

greenspun.com : LUSENET : TimeBomb 2000 (Y2000) : One Thread

I'll receive approx. $10,000 before year-end in bonus money. I *should* be paid another $45,000 just after the first.

I'm just an average putz with a good job. There are many more like me in this bubble economy.

Can you guess why there are so many not wanting to see the danger?

I have about $13,000 very good reasons I want Y2K to be a BITR, but it ain't gonna happen. Sighhhh....

Zerad, you remember me? Your long lost cousin? The one who needs money? Don-cha, huh?, don-cha?

All kidding aside, you make in my opinion a very valid point. I've heard that many of Wall Street's brokers are in line to receive millions in bonuses this year because of the inflated Stock Market. I doubt that they want to think of some "last minute" glitch. If something does happen I wouldn't want to be standing on the sidewalk, on Wall Street, falling bodies could be harmfull to one's health.

Thanks Zerad for a that little insight. Time to thin the herd.

And BITR means?

-- Interested Spectator (is@the_ring.side), December 15, 1999.

I want it to be a BITR and my income is probably not going to change one iota if it is. My income and lifestyle (very moderate) will go thru enormous changes if it isn't though. I hope I've prepared enough, and I hope you have too.

BITR= Bump in The Road. This is the mantra the 5 people over at the debunkie crowd have PREDICTED for the upcoming year. They have PREDICTED 3 or 4 days of minor GLITCHES and then the party is over and done. Dow 36,000 and more... Pay them a visit and enjoy the madness.

I have literally countless trillions of reasons why I daily hope and pray that it is far less than even a Polly's worst case scenario - the life, safety, and welfare of every living organism on this planet!

But I truly believe we are already in the midst of the BITR scenario ... so I pray daily that it does not get much worse.

Can someone explain the disconnect to me?

If everyone is in denial because they don't want their fortunes to get flushed down the toilet come y2k, then how come they don't take the necessary steps to insure that it won't happen? I mean, your whole theory is based on the idea that nobody wants to lose their money. If there really was any danger, there would be evidence of it, and people would be protecting their investments. Or is it just that a handful of people here at TB2K are the ONLY ones in the world that can see this horrible, horrible thing about to happen?

I am prepared for a 6-7, but want a 1-2 for purely selfish reasons. I wish I could say that I cared about the rest of the earth's population, but it would be a lie. My desire, like many other self- absorbed baby-boomers is to perpetuate and enrich my current standard of living. Most in this age group, though, do not wish to acknowledge the dangers facing us as a society.

Maybe because since they are in denial they don't see the need to take steps?

Maybe in some cases there is no insurance. (Example: Zerad's company is unable to meet their obligations).

How come no one noticed when that old dude, Noah, was building that big boat out in the middle of nowhere? Why didn't someone build at least a rowboat?

I can think of another 55,000 reasons. That is the approximate number of nuclear warheads in the world.

Ya know....I posted on another part of the forum about some of my models from bothe Russia and China....plain people leading lives like you and I. They don't hate us anymore than the average person here hates them. It's the leadership of the world that causes the problems. And as far as a BITR...well, being a visually impaired diabetic...I better hope for that as the worst. Then again I look around at the people and what I see sickens me. I have some wonderful nephews and a niece...met some beautiful models...loves I've lost but still love...then again I look at the world and think how good it would be if we have about a 20. FTW.
