Digital Imaging and getting started with Adobe PhotoShop 5.0

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Imaging Resource Discussion : One Thread

I am a photographer who just purchased a computer and adobe photoshop 5.0 and I'm interested in getting a digital scanner to scan 35 mm as well as medium format film. Can you direct me to some additional reviews on scanners and some articles on photoshop. I have the tutorial on photoshop, but some application in articles would be nice. Thanks

Redigo, first of all contact Adobe and find out how to upgrade to Photoshop 5.5. It is worth it. So far as scanners go for film, I use two Kodak 3570's which allow me to scan to 70mm. For larger sizes I use two Linocolor Saphirs--Not the greatest, but a compromise. If you really want to learn all that photoshop has to offer then you need to spend a lot of time on the Adobe website, especially in the user-to- user forums which, unfortunately, are down until after the first of they year. They did a re-design of their site a few months ago and it did not work real well, but you can have a ton of questions answered there both from adobe engineers, but, more importantly, adobe sysops. Good Luck and if you have any questions stay in touch. Fred
