I have to agree that the evidence to support the concerns that I have about Y2K are limited. Sure there have been some reported gliches but none have been major and were soon corrected. There is a the possibility that I have been wrong in my intuition about y2k. ( like the scene in 12 monkeys when Bruce Willis admits that he is crazy and made up the whole story about the virus and 5 billion people) Only to find out I was really right and did not prep the way I should have. When I was in school, I had a teacher that told me that when an answer comes to you first it is usually right. When I first heard of y2k, I began to think of all the problems that could happen and began to prepare. Now with two weeks to M-day, I am starting to have doubts that the preps that I have made might be excessive and I beginning to feel like Bruce Willis character, and think that it was all in my head and that I over reacted to an imagined threat. But for any one who has seen the movie 12 monkeys we know what happened in the end.I have not prepped in a few months and think that if there was any really convincing evidence I would probably increase my preps from the current 1 month position.

I grew up in a very dysfunctional family where what my parents said was true did not match their actions in many cases. This left me as a very confused kid. As an adult, I have learned that what I saw and experienced was the truth and that the words said were for their protection and benefit. I have learned to trust my intuition or gut feeling as it has been accurate. In terms of what is happening about Y2K, I feel much like I did as a kid -- the governments and businesses are saying that everything will be OK with only insignificant disruptions at most, however their actions tell a very different story. Government and business are prepping and all of these federal and state "bunkers" that have been prepared are very disturbing to me. For monitoring purposes, why do they need bunkers?

Oliver Sacks, the neurologist portrayed by Robin Williams in "Awakenings" also wrote "The Man Who Mistook His Wife For a Hat."
In the latter book Dr. Sacks tells the story as I recall of a ward of brain injured patients watching a presidential speech on the tube.
These patients had brain lesions effecting their ability to process communications. Half the ward understood verbal language, the other half read body language and gestures, but could not process or understand spoken words.
After the speech Dr. Sacks asked for a show of hands:
How many of you thought the president was telling the truth?
Everyone understanding only the words raised his hand.
Which of you thought the president was lying?
Everyone who only read body language raised his hand.

I still think its going to be a 7 or 8 - but, my mate has decided she NLGI (No Longer Gets It) because of the missed dates, government PR (BS) etc. So even tho I keep doing research I've had to basically stop sharing.
Because of the tension I've had to curtail my preps also. *sigh* Now I have to really hope its not as bad as I 'feel' it will be.

Hokie.. wonder what those brain-injured folks would say about this:
STATEMENT BY THE PRESIDENT
As of today, 99.9 per cent of the government's mission critical computer systems are Y2K compliant. They have been fixed, tested and certified as ready for operation on January 1, 2000. We have met the challenge of making sure that the federal government can continue to serve the American people as we enter the next century.
Personally, I believe him. And I believe he never DID have sex with THAT woman.

Yes, I saw 12 Monkeys and wish to own it...
I have had to resign myself to waiting this out. I am sitting on about 1 year of preps plus sustainables (seeds, etc.) but wouldn't be surprised if we have a bitr. Would sigh greatly! I did have a paradigm shift just to get to this point - facing the reality that our ancestors knew - that we should always be prepared for possible interruptions to our food supply, etc. So will likely always keep supplies on hand for my family. This attitude was also influenced by a back injury to me and threatened unemployment for my husband - and looking at my wonderful 3 y.o. son and wishing to be able to care for him, no matter what.
Do your best, don't sacrifice your mate/marriage - and try to find some peace and remember that each day is precious - you could be gone tomorrow from something totally unrelated to Y2k - car wreck, heart attack, etc. Look at your loved ones and relax and smile.... really enjoy them. Good luck!

My take on intuition:
Intuition comes to us through our direct link to Cosmic Consciousness. It can never be wrong. If the information garnered turns out to be incorrect, then said information was not gained through intuition, but rather through our everyday thought processes.
The ability to "hear that small, silent voice" can be nurtured through spiritual practice. I encourage all to do so.

12 Monkeys is a great movie and a great Doomer movie.

I've posted some of this before. But ...
If someone had predicted on the day I was born, all of the wonderful, inhumane sufferings that I would have to endure, because of denial, ignorance and greed of people, only a most enthusuastic doomer would have believed it. Had my future flashed before my eyes then, I would have crawled back into the womb. And stayed there.
Because of my sufferings I have developed a special gift, an uncanny instinct, insight and foresight. But I have to be careful to distinguish between these and the ghosts in my souls that also developed during those years.
I believe that your instinct is correct about the world's present predicament. Swiss people have been prepared for calamities for decades, and probably for much longer. Did they suffer from mass paranoia, or could they face the potential reality, no matter how unpleasant? You know from history, that sooner or later ... you fill in the blanks, ... I wish you all the best.
