Hotshots picture software for Nikon Digitals

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Imaging Resource Discussion : One Thread

When I installed my Nikon Hotshots software on my computer,it did a nice job of allowing you to arrange pictures in folders etc. The problem came when I tried to email jpegs to my friends, who do not have Hotshots software on their computers. They simply can not view the pics as the extention file is "col" not jpeg. I had to copy the Hotshot jpeg files into a folder, then use Microsoft Image Composer to save as jpeg files. I could then send the pics and folks on the other end could view them. Has anyone found a way to get around Nikon Hotshot's Image Collection file extention naming convention? Also is the Adobe picture software user friendly?

From the HotShots application, perform a 'Save As' selecting '.jpg' as the file type. HotShots will then bring up a window to allow you to adjust the amount of compression. With .jpg as the file types, others without HotShots should have no trouble opening the photo. With the compression, transmit time will be shorter for your friends as well.
