There could be several reasons I can think of, and perhaps more but here's a try. I take it the scanner worked fine before you installed the software for the Polaroid. Twain is the interface between your scanner and your PC, and can also be the interface between your camera and your PC. It is possible that the version of twain your camera uses is different than the one your scanner uses. or it is simply the settings of the driver which are different. The installation routine of the camera has likely overwritten the version and/or settings of the twain driver your scanner uses. Obviously the quickest way to get the scanner to work again is likely to be to reinstall the scanner drivers. However this will likely overwrite the twain of the camera again. Which is not necessarily a problem if the polaroid uses memory cards: if so it could be a quick solution to install a memory card reader (this usually plugs into your parallel port between the PC and the printer plug), then use the reader to copy the photos from the card onto your harddisk rather than using the direct interface with the camera. This is possibly also quicker than using the camera connection. However if you have reasons to use the direct connection then this may not be an option. Alternative solutions could be to contact the supplier of the Mustek scanner and see if they have seen the problem before. Or the Mustek website may have a solution. Or there may be troubleshoot info in the Mustek (online) documentation. In case there is a device conflict, you can also check on your PC in Control Panel, System and see if anything shows up with a ! in a yellow circle. If so, use the device conflict troubleshooter within Windows to see if it can be fixed. Hope this may be of some use, until someone comes along who has had the same problem and will perhaps be able to give more specific advice. Good luck!

Have you selected the proper twain source in your photo finishing software? Photoshop allows you to select the twain source. If you are using a PC is one of your devices loaded in the start menu? If so it is may already be active and is hogging your twain driver. If there is an item for your camera, right click on it and disable it. Otherwise you may have to go into the preferences for your camera software and disable the startup icon for it

This may help
