A plea for a return to normalcy...

To All but "ladylogic:

This post is a repeat of my post from this morning to one of "ladylogic's" threads. That thread (80-plus posts and going strong at the time) was shortly thereafter deleted, so my post stood for about three or four hours. I have a burning need to share my views on this, so please bear with me. The post follows (with minor changes):

To all but Ladylogic:

I have finally come to the conclusion that this person, "ladylogic," is really destructive to the purpose of the forum. As some of you may know, I have helped her, given her the benefit of the doubt, and defended her in the past.

After reading this thread and the monster-thread down the block, I am now almost convinced that she simply enjoys inciting and inflaming as ends in themselves. What has happened is that many forum participants are naturally angered by her posts and respond; thus, their time and energy are being needlessly sucked up, and at a time when we are in dire need of their opinions, knowledge and support elsewhere.

If I may sidestep for a moment, if Robert A. Cook's figures are correct, she's found 20 out of 280,000 messages that may be questionable, depending on the context. Goldbug's and probably a few others were pretty obviously bad; I haven't read them all. So we have 0.00007 of the postings that were questionable or bad.

The population of the U.S. prisons are something over one million. Add to this certain portions of the population of the mental institutions and every other adult alive who has ever threatened someone in a serious way. Divide by the number of U.S. adults, compare to the last paragraph, and I think you'll see the true, utter meaninglessness of her statements -- at least in the way they were presented. By that I mean that ironically and unintentionally, through her listing she actually gave this forum high praise; obviously she did not realize this.

On the other thread (the monster-thread) I am currently awaiting a reply from her to a serious question, but after that conversation, I'm near done with her -- at least I'm really going to try. She could very well sucker me back in again, keep me stringing along; I'm only human. But she's really not serious, and her postings are now serving only to act as a sort of cancer on the forum, detracting from its purpose and efficacy; ultimately destructive. I, for one, have things that I would love to share with the forum; for example in the area of wild edible plants. In the time I've spent with ladylogic's threads I'm sure I would have shared some additional information in this area. That opportunity is now lost, and can never be recovered.

She may indeed have some honest opinions, and maybe some accurate things to say about her "3" scenario, but because of her other remarks, which are now legion, in my mind she's completely destroyed her credibility in regard to practically anything she posts now. So the issue of any veracity or sincerity in any of her postings has simply become a moot point to which it is impossible to attach any value.

If her postings are allowed to stay, I implore all of you -- I beg of you -- to try as hard as you can to redirect your energies to relevant matters and to people who are sincere, have something to say, and an honest desire to learn something that will help themselves and their loved ones get through the difficult times ahead.

Pleeeeeaaaaaaase! She does not deserve this much atention. Just ignore her and let's talk about something serious. We don't have time for this crap. If she wants atention and wants to distract you from serious issues, she has succeded.

In general, I agree with Jose. However, I must give you credit for a most eloquent presentation of your case. Thanks.

If for no other reason than this one, her posts should simply be deleted, so that we can get back to the business at hand.

Jose,

You know I agree with you 100%!! In a way, if you boil down my message it becomes yours!

I had to say it, though, because I thought some people could benefit from it; but I'm sorry that it upset you.

Ahoy, Eve! Gots enny more of dat lamb's whatchamacallit spinach in yer garden? ackackackackack! toot! toot!

No guys. Eve's post is a good one and it serves a purpose. Eve really went to bat for LL when she was a newbie needing help. I thought it commendable how generous and helpful she was. Even though LL has been duely and correctly banished from posting, I'm sure her excessive ego has her still reading and lurking here.

Laura, are you proud of the way you've responded to Eve's, and all the other acts of generosity and kindness? No, instead you gravitate to the morbid and the degenerates. Very telling, you total fool.

I'd also like to compliment the syops like Diane who have done such a good job of eradicating the misfits, malcontents and retaining the integrity of the board. I think the procedures and ground rules are excellent. I'm very grateful for this forum, the exchange of ideas, the relationships and the groundbreaking process thats evolving here.

[adjusted for parallelism #3] Irving:

I really appreciate your support.

Popeye:

Hi, guy! Remember when you were recommending an "oibal" remedy? I told you I loved your accent and asked you if you were from Jersey, and I never heard back. Were you out to sea? For the others, Popeye's referring to Lamb's Quarters (Chenopodium album), a very common "weed" that is an excellent spinach substitute. I think practically every wild edibles book in existence covers it, with photos or drawings. It's especially high in Vitamins A and C.

Amen Eve! This is what it ought to be all about.

Absolutely Eve!

(sounds like a great perfume) Let's get on with the show.
