"Nothing will work in Russia"-- Senator Bennett on CNN Sat.

greenspun.com : LUSENET : TimeBomb 2000 (Y2000) : One Thread

Tell me---

When a U.S. Senator makes a Statement On CNN that one of his investigators came back from russia and told him that: Quote---

"Nothing will Work in Russia, but the people won't notice because nothing works there anyway"

Am I overly sensitive in that I find this extremely callous and irresponsible, since if Gazprom Goes down people (women and children) will freeze to death in not only Russia but Eastern Europe. Not to mention the other ramifications of "nothing working in russia"

Bizarre leadership we have these days!!! As long as the U.S. is OK!!

Hmm, exactly. Screw the foreigners, it's not as though they're human or anything. :(

(More worryingly: it's not as though we trade with them, or anything, is it? Errr....)

Again, it's overblown optimism. If it can go right, it will!!

... so if his assumption is that those who are accustomed to irregular service won't "notice" y2k then the fact that the Whitehouse is conditioning the belief that we as well have irregular service is no surprise. As a matter of fact, I would go as far to say that this quote from Bennett is unequivocal evidence that the Senate Committe at least HAS BEEN in the back pocket of either the whitehouse, or more likely both the whitehouse and senate committee are riding in the back pocket of Intelligence, probablyNSA.

It's called chauvinism.

No, it's called stupidity.

Add unmitigated hubris to that mix also.

It's called evil.

It's called 900 FBI files that can be 'leaked' if they don't do what Der ArkanFurher says.

Kook

The Russian people will notice, all right. But decades of experience have taught them that their options are limited, namely (1) grumble, (2) endure and (3) survive.

For several years now coal miners and army officers in Russia have been paid little or nothing for extended periods ranging up to months at a time.

The group that has Bennett in their "pocket", is the Federal Reserve Ownership. You'll notice that in todays news, he's quoted as saying he'll be in Utah with an irridium phone so he can call congress per instructions from "Alan Greenspan." I didn't realize of course, that Alan Greenspan was directing the governments y2k efforts....
