Live chat, anyone?

greenspun.com : LUSENET : B&W Photo: Creativity, Etc. : One Thread

Hi all,

Is anyone interested in doing a B&W World live chat? I now have moderator access to PhotoHighway's chat room--and am scheduling live chat sessions there. There is some time available during the week of December 20.

Since it's a hot topic at the moment thanks to the NY Times (see previous post) I'd like the topic to be "Is Street Photography Dead?" Other topic ideas are welcome.

Since I know we have a large UK contingent here, I'd like to do the chat at a time convenient to both our US and UK participants. I'm thinking about 4:30pm EST which, I believe, would be 9:30 pm (also known as 21:30?) GMT and 1:30 pacific coast time in the US. Whatcha think? I'd like to schedule this in the next couple of days...

what about us Aussies :) I used to be real good with 'times in other parts of the world' having to deal with it on a day-to-day basis, these days though I've lost the plot! 9:30pm GMT is about 7:30am AEST I think... hmm I'm awake usually but nowhere near the 'puter! Don't think you'll be able to pick a time to suit us on this side of the planet! Is there a chat log we could read... could be interesting reading what you all had to say.

For Aussies or anyone else who can't make that time, the entire chat will be transcribed, archived and available via a previous chats index for future reference.

That sounds fun, if I'm not buried inside Katie at the time (Katie is my new quadropod/darkroom/studio/etc).

But www.photohighway.com says it is scheduled for Dec 21 8.00pm EST, which is one in the morning on this side of the pond.

Hi Alan, that time was a misprint. It's now officially scheduled for 4:30 EST/1:30PST/9:30GMT on Tuesday, Dec. 22. All are invited!

Hi Mason, from the response I gather that the 'live chat' set-up on Photohighway works. I have not had a chance to be at my computer during the previous ones. As noted before, I still encounter so many glitches on Photohighway that make it a waste of time for me to visit the site. I have not gotten any response from them when I take the time to write down the procedures that don't work for me. Well, Rome was not built.........

Yes! IMHO it's our best feature. We just had a chat last night on travel photography tips with Jeff Wignall, author of the Joy of Photography, Kodak's Guide to Better Travel Photos and other books. Very good info, and Jeff's a great person to chat with! The transcript will be available soon.

Chris, all of your emails are seen and forwarded to the right people in our tech dept. And if nobody else has thanked you for taking the time to write them, I will, right here, right now!

>Well, Rome was not built.........

Exactly! There are a lot of exciting things in the works...the chat room should give you a small taste of what's to come. Hope to see you there Tuesday!
