Tackling the issue of lying

Thanks Ray for a timely repost of a solid essay from Bonnie. Truth versus falsehood is certainly not limited to Y2K as a number of folks were quick to point out. It does not matter if they are lies to cover their legal, political or financial butt...the end result is the same. Somebody is going to take garbage at face value and ultimately get hurt with it. This is especially true with Y2K.

Unfortunately, truth is becoming a dying art in the halls of TPTB. If you have any doubts, just go back (WAY back!) to Woodrow Wilson and FDR who both pledged that America's young men would not be going to war. Or Nixon's "I am not a crook". Fast forward to this point in time with NERC with their infamous "cell phones, walkie-talkies and flashlights" compliance tests...micro-managed every step of the way so that a positive and upbeat report could be issued. Look at John Koskinen (I'd rather not) and finally, Comrade Clinton.

I'm certainly not the final arbiter of this issue, but IMHO, Truth is in the Intensive Care ward of our civilization..in critical condition.

Irving, exceptionally well put, many thanks. Unfortunately, lying in our society has become systemic at every level. The consequences will be devastating

About all you can do is to try to insulate yourself from those who lie to you...and simply mistrust those who you can not fully insulate from.
