Think of the world as one giant computer. All the pc's, mainframes, and embedded systems are the code for that computer.

How many lines of code failing, would it take to make our computer malfunction to the point of persistant headaches? Crash to the point of re-installing entire systems? Will it be severe enough for us to just go out and get a new one?

Oh wait, we can't do that last one.
