Denver+Bottled Water Availability

greenspun.com : LUSENET : TimeBomb 2000 (Y2000) : One Thread

Report of bottled water being unavailable.

Not that people are buying it up, but that grocers said unable to get delivery, and are now selling empty bottles.

This a rumor for now, but you might want to check it out if you happen to live nearby.

I've been saving empty plastic bottles, all sizes, since April of 1998. I now have several hundred. Turns out that filling them all with tap water, & stashing them safely, is rather time-consuming!

Just hope we don't actually need any of it.

I fill and treat my water as I go. Less time consuming and by filling the bottles and letting them sit, you discover which ones have holes in them. I have jugs that I filled 1-1/2 years ago and it's still good. I plan to retreat the water when I am ready to use it. My water is stored in a cool dark place.

Bard,

What do you use for treating the water? If it is bleach, how much per gallon? If not bleach, what alternative and where do you get it?

I know they used "pills" of something during WWII in asia, but I can't remember the name of it?

Sorry, I know that was answered on another thread. Should have paid attention!

maid, rather than relying on others, why don't you do a little research. Won't take long, and then you'll feel confident of what you're doing.

Start at: Millennium Ark. You'll find a section on water, and a good link to purification.

You'll also find a lot more information on finding water should it be a problem.
