purpose of AC adopter?

I know about charges & batteries but why is it important to have a AC adapter? Don't you have to stay in one spot to take pictures? Is there another use I don't know of? thank you

Frank, Some people use digital cameras in studio settings. An AC adapter is very useful in those situations. Also, if you spend a lot of time with your camera connected to the computer, to control the camera or transfer images, it might be used.

Hi Frank. I have just had quadruple open heart surgery and to cheer me up my my bought me a Epsom PC850Z digital camera and it is fantastic. Now when you are playing around and trying to decide out of 85 pictures in the camera, which ones you want to delete or download, it would be nice to have a AC Adapter to save keep charging the batteries. But also FOR ME ,I have a 740 Epson Printer which I can take anywhere with me I print the pictures straight from the camera AND this is where it drains the batteries! I would love a AC ADAPTER but they are $100.00 here in Canada and we cannot afford one! it is a pity they do not include one the camera cost enough. In fact I am going on the WEB to see if anyone can show me a cheap way to make one up!. Thank you for your answers. I didn't know this because I don't own a digital camera yet. I've been interested in the Olympus 450zoom. Responses have been very good on the board. Any thing I should know before buyingt it. Thank you for your time.
