In 1831, while still a cadet at W.Point,he wrote "Poems by E.A.P." but was ridiculed by his fellow students. His "Poems written in Youth" some say have abiographical interest. In Oct. 1833, nearly starving (he left W.P. in Sept.) he was awarded a literary prize by the Saturday Visitor magazine. In 1835 Poe became a regular contributor to the Messenger in Baltimore. Memoir by Geo.R.Graham in Poes Poems, published by M.A.Donohue & Co. 407-429 Dearborn St. Chicago. Sorry, there are no publishing dates for this little book.

I have a book called Poes poems Gold leaf pages with memoir New York Worthington Co. 747 Broardway

Preface to the poems These trifles are collected and published chiefly with a view to thier redemptionfrom the many improvements to which they have been subjected while going at random "the rounds of the press." I am naturally anxious that what I have written should circulate as I wrote it, if it circulated at all.In defence of my own taste, never the les, is incumbent upon me to say that I think nothing in this volume of much value to the public, or very credible to myself. I am not sure what a compliment is. I have always collected Poe because I enjoy his writings. Please reply
