Taken with a Nikon N50, Tokina 400mm, Sigma 1.4x teleconverter, Kodak Royal Gold 100 speed print film. Center-weighted meter on nearby green grass, no adjustment.

I like it very much. Soft light, soft background, and reflection are all excellent. The vertical crop works well for me, also.

Amazingly enough I believe I saw this picture being taken! In March of this year I was visiting my parents in Huntington Beach and went to down to Bolsa Chica(about 10 minutes away) to take a walk and look at the birds. While we were there we walked past a gentleman taking pictures pictures of the stilts with a large 300 or 400 mm lens. As we greeted each-other he excitedly pointed out that the stilts were mating. The next morning in the Orange County version of the LA Times I saw what I am almost positive was this picture with the same caption and I assumed it was taken by the person I saw. So how about it Stu; was it you?
