CNN Headlines..bank limiting amount of withdrawls to $3000 until Jan 10th.

greenspun.com : LUSENET : TimeBomb 2000 (Y2000) : One Thread

Chubby Hubby just caught this on the headlines that run along at the bottom of the screen, but didn't catch the Bank name. I have to leave the house and he has his orders to watch CNN until he finds out which bank! Don't know if $3000 is total withdraw or per day or per week. Yep, its starting! Personaly, if I still had all my money in the bank, seeing that would have made me make a run on the bank. I would have transfered it to a number of banks with new acc't and then cashed them in as fast as I could.

They don't say which bank..just that its in Nebraska and it sounds like its total of $3000 between now and Jan 10th. Taz

Hey Taz,

Your spelling of withdrawls (withdrawal) does make you sound like a CA cowgirl! ;-}

maybe it's related to this http://www.Jacksonville.com/tu- online/stories/120999/bus_1474796.html

First Bank of Jacksonville is a one building outfit. One bank, one branch, locally owned and operated. FDIC is having some problems with their contingency plans and have graded them poorly. What they don't say in this article is that the FDIC has been after them for a while now. Sounds like they have the ammo they've been looking for to take them over if they choose.

I doubt this is related to the CNN announcement on limited withdrawls.

Taz - I have looked all over the CNN web site, and also CNNfn to see if I can find that story...nowhere to be found that I can see. My best guess is that they jerked it from publication. I can't imagine why it was there in the first place...probably some junior(soon to be fired) producer spliced in the story from a newswire service. I would really like to know what town/bank was referred to in the story. If anyone finds out, please post the results of your search!!

I too combed the CNN web site and found nothing. But obviously it was on the radio too, at least in Nebraska. I bet more than one ol' cornhusker hiked his butt to the bank today.
