King of His Dune

Sand Dune Lizard, (Sceloporus arenicolus). Mescalero Sands, Chaves co., New Mexico. Nikon N-90, 200 micro + TC-14b converter.

This is a dominant male, perched atop an erosion exposed yucca root, at the top of a dune. Only the dominant male in any terratory would dare choose so high a vantage point.

The lizard is great! The camera angle enhances the "dominant" pose. The blurred sticks are a little distracting, but not too much. The bottom third of the picture, however, doesn't do anything for me. If you lose the bottom of the picture with a square crop I think the image is strengthened quite a bit.
