I want to buy a DVD that can also play VCD. I would like to be able to watch DVDs and VCDs from both Hong Kong and the United States. Does this mean I must buy a code free DVD? Can you recommend some model and where I can go to buy them? Thanks

I think a Region 1 (North America) player would probably be okay. I've bought a number of Hong Kong DVDs, and they're all Region 0 (i.e. they can play on any player -- the manufacturer didn't bother to make them region-locked).
