How much lamp oil/kero burn in Aladdin per hour?

greenspun.com : LUSENET : TimeBomb 2000 (Y2000) Preparation Forum : One Thread

I've run out of time to do testing ... can anyone tell me how much oil (ultra pure or kero, if different) an Aladdin lamp burns in an hour? I'm trying to calculate our possible needs and buy asap. Are ordinary oil lamps any different in their consumption? We have a few of them, too. Another way to put this might be, how long does a lamp burn, when filled, and the wick set midway (not too low, not full bright.) Thanks.

I ordered same lamps quite a while back.I forget where I got them. But I do remember information that said you could burn them for 5 hours a night for a Month on a gallon of fuel. That works out to 150 Hours. I hope this helps, and good luck.Dan

I'm working on memory but I'm almost certain it is about 40 hours per gallon. Not 150 hours. Can't say for other lamps, will differ. Same for kero or ultra.

Somewhere there is an online company that has a side by side comparison of the Alladin, the Petromax, and a petromax look alike for various features. It includes consumption rates for each. I've looked through my bookmarks and I must not have bookmarked it. Does anybody have/remember this URL or company name?

Somewhere in either the Cumberland or Lehman's catalog is the consumption rate for the Alladin. Anybody got their catalog handy?

The 150cp Petromax is 160 hours per gallon. The 500cp Petromax is 32 hours per gallon. That range can go up about 20-40% by turning down the brightness or down 10-30% if operated in a very cold location. This info is according to a phone conversation with BriteLyt.
