Progressive scanning with Sonygreenspun.com : LUSENET : Shooting DV Films : One Thread
Can someone help with this question ? Is there a difference between footage that is progressively scanned at 25fps and the same footage filmed normally (interlaced) that has then been taken into Adobe Premiere and deinterlaced , I've tried both and they "seem" the same - I want to buy a VX1000 or another Sony cam which doesn't have 25fps Progressive scanning . Also is it true that all post serial - 40000 VX1000's can't be DV enabled . Th

Sonys cameras don't shoot progressive at 25 (PAL) or 30 (NTSC) frames per second. It's 1/2 the frame rates of the formentioned framerates. The footage is unaturally strobey and grainy as a rule on all Sony cameras I've seen it on (I own a Sony VX2000E). Just save up for a Sony CineAlta ($100,000), that way you get true progressive 24fps!
