AMMO RESTRICTIONS - CHEAPER THAN DIRT SPORTING GOODS -

greenspun.com : LUSENET : TimeBomb 2000 (Y2000) : One Thread

First heard this yesterday on a Genesis Communications radio program on the net. Called Cheaper Than Dirt just now to order a xmas present. They confirmed the story. They are now limited to 100,000 rounds in house. The rest of their inventory has to be stored at another location; fire department felt it was hazardous to have all that ammo in their store. Cheaper Than Dirt is very upset about these restrictions. According to the radio report they sell l00,000 rounds in half a day and are one of the nation's largest ammo sellers. They asked if we could spread the word and try to help them fight these limitations on their business. Told them I would post it here to inform others.

Apologize if this has already been posted.

This was on a few different gun boards. On one of them someone, who lives in that area, posted that the local fire chief felt that their fire suppression system was not up to the task. All they have to do is upgrade. I'll try to find the link.

My friend tried to buy MRE's pallet for Y2k/hurricane stores this summer,He was told that he would be charged a special cross town and in house loading fee in Dallas, then charged a separate drey charge to trans-ship to San Deigo, then a storage fee to store util Matson picked up the pallet then another shipping charge to ship to Hawaii.(No direct shipping charge. They (cheaper than dirt) seem more interested in moving ammo than moving over priced MRE"s as far as I'm concerned this outfit can go down with y2k without me crying one little bit. the staff there were rude and unhelpful and seemed to not care if they did business with my friend or not! the purchase of 50 cases of mre's were no small outlay of cash. in wartime this company would be labeled a Profiteer. Needless to say ,my friend had to rely on perishable stores

wise to these guys: I am not trying to be antagonistic when I ask you this, simply trying to clarify. Did your friend expect Cheaper Than Dirt to pick up the freight charges? The company that I used to work for(as well as our competitors) always quoted the price of the part with freight charges added later. We would always send the customer a copy of the charges from the various freight organizations which they paid promptly. The charges you discussed are nominal in any business arrangement.
