Two weeks ago we brought a new Maine Coon kitten into our household. Initially, we were worried about the reaction of our 19 yr. old tabby cat but he (after a week or so of hissing and growling) has accepted the new kitten. However, our 5 yr. old Maine Coon who initially seemed to get along well with the kitten, (he let it sit with him and played with him) now seems terrified of him and spends most of his time watching him anxiously from underneath the dining room table. "Gus," our 5 yr. old, is normally loving and playful. Is this something that time will take care of? We are trying to give him extra attention but so far, no progress. Both of our cats are neutered males and we are feeding everyone separately.
