Nikon LS2000(Dmax} or Polaroid SprintScan 4000(dpi)

I'm ready to buy one of these scanners. The Nikon LS200 has a higher Dmax,3.6, compared to the Polaroid SprintScan 4000's 3.4 Dmax. A .2 difference (Dmax being very important to aquiring detail in the shadows). But the Polaroid has a much higher DPI. so what becomes more important, Dmax or DPI. And does a .2 difference mean that much. Also I have heard (from Nikon people) that the Polaroid scanning software and its color management is inconsistent (3 scans 3 different results). I know alot of people have tried the Nikon but has anybody tried the Polaroid 4000 or made an honest critical evaluation of it, not just some review glorifying its features. If anybody out there could share there experince with me or guide me to a critical review I would be grateful. Thanks, Michael

Have you tried looking at the Minolta Dimage Scan Speed F-2800? I bought this instead of the Nikon LS 2000. It's just as good as the Nikon and cheeper. Don't know about the Polaroid
