I just ruined my hair!!!

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Xeney : One Thread

I just bleached my hair so bad, chunks were falling out. it is yellow/orange/white. I hate it. I cant do anything to it now. I will have to grow it out. I will be wearing hats to work for the next year. I have stopped crying long enough to type this message. I am 26 and feel like I just blew a year of youngness, because I am ugly now!!!!!

what to do?

Okay, I've done this twice before (yes, twice), so believe me when I tell you it will grow out, and it won't take as long as you think if you are willing to wear your hair pretty short.

You're right; you can't do anything with it at the moment if it's really that bad. You can probably make it look better in a few weeks if you condition it within an inch of its life, every day (maybe twice a day) for a while. No blow drying. No scrunching or ponytails. If it's super bleached, now is the time to indulge your inner weirdo and get it cut in some funky style so it looks like you did it on purpose.

It will grow out. Really and truly. Just resist the temptation to try to fix it yourself. If you can afford it, a stylist *might* be able to do something, but they'll charge an arm and a leg and it might not help too much.

Anyone else have any ideas? (Believe me, Nicki, you are not the first person to do this!)

Cut it ***REALLY*** and pretend you did it on purpose. It will grow out soon if you eat well...healthy not necessarily lots! LOL!! (...and hair needs FAT to grow, so a low fat diet will not be helpful) and are patient.

PS. I am nervous posting to this forum now....after all the complaints about grammar and spelling and sentence structure and etc I fill like I should call my English teachers prior to posting.......

Okay, here's my two cents.

Buzz it.

That sounds awful, doesn't it? But it's not, really. It's kind of nice. You don't have to spend hours washing, conditioning, whatever. Nothing.

I've done it before, just on a whim...(Okay, and a really bad dye job)...And I liked it so much that I kept it like that for two years. Once I got tired of that, I let it grow back, and it took maybe two years for it to get to the bottom of my shoulder blades.

Hey, try anything once, right?

Cut it cut it cut it. You didn't blow a year of youngness. You changed tacks. You can even cut it in stages, to see how much you can get away with and still have hair.

No scrunchies. Don't necessarily crush it under hats. Don't don't don't try to color over it.
