according to my research, Poe wanted people to read his poetry and think that is writing was well before his time.. he wanted people to think that he should have been born in the 20th century. Poe constantly thrives to drive his poetry towards reality, in a somewhat neurtic and unrealistic matter, thus froming an unreal setting and plot. His subject matter is very narrow and ideosyncratic, in the process trying to let the reder leave behind their own world and enter his. Poe's obsession with death and natural phenomena also contributes to the unrealisticness of his poetry. His work pushed hin towrdas tragic absurdity, thus causing him to rfer to death and speulchers by the sea. Hope this helps ya
